How a Maryland permit application works

  1. Finish the 16-hour course and get your score sheet.
  2. Get Livescan fingerprints from an authorized vendor (out-of-state providers are not approved) and keep the receipt.
  3. Have a passport-style photo.
  4. Log in to (or create) your account on the MSP Licensing Portal, upload the fingerprint receipt, score sheet and photo, complete the application and pay the fee.

Applying is not the same as being approved. Do not carry until you have the permit in hand.
